Banana Milkshake Without Ice Cream

Easy Banana Milkshake Recipe (No Ice Cream Needed)

Craving a creamy, delicious banana milkshake but don't have any ice cream on hand? No worries! This simple recipe uses frozen bananas and a few pantry staples to create a rich, flavorful milkshake that's just as satisfying.

Recipe Makes about 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen bananas

  • 1/2 cup half and half, or whole milk

  • 1/4 cup ice (optional, for a thicker and colder shake)

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup, honey or sugar (optinal for sweeter taste)

  • 1 egg yolks (optional, for extra richness, creaminess, and boost in nourishment)

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prep your bananas: Make sure your bananas are fully frozen. Peel and slice them before freezing if you haven't already.

  2. Add ingredients: Add the frozen bananas, half and half, (or whole milk) to a blender.

  3. Add sweetness: Pour in your preferred sweetener, starting with 2 tablespoons. You can always add more later based on your taste.

  4. Optional richness: If using, add the egg yolk. These add a velvety texture but make sure to consume it right away due to the raw eggs. (If you prefer, you can skip this step.)

  5. Add vanilla: Pour in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for a warm, aromatic flavor.

  6. Optional ice: Add 1/4 cup ice if you want a colder, thicker milkshake.

  7. Blend it up: Blend on high until smooth and creamy. If the shake is too thick, add a splash more milk; if too thin, add more frozen banana or ice. If you are using a Nutri Bullet or similar blender that does not have a removable lid, then add it all to the blender at the same time.

  8. Serve immediately: Pour into glasses and enjoy your naturally creamy banana milkshake!

Tips

  • Using frozen bananas gives the milkshake a naturally creamy, ice cream-like texture without all the added sugar.

  • Mixing up your shake flavor is a fun and delicious way to keep things exciting. Try adding frozen berries, mango, pineapple, or peaches for a refreshing fruity shake. Try adding peanut butter for a creamy and nutty treat!

  • Adjust the sweetener to your preference. Maple syrup adds a nice depth of flavor, but honey or sugar work great too.

  • If you’re uneasy about using raw egg yolks, feel free to omit them. We get fresh eggs from a local farm and have never had any issue eating fresh raw egg yolks.

Enjoy this quick, wholesome banana milkshake as a healthy treat any time of day!
