Brown Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) melted butter

  • 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the (slightly cooled) melted butter and dark brown sugar. Stir until smooth. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly.

  3. Add Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  4. Shape Cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 11 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly soft.

  6. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
